Jasmine plants usually grow as a vine/creeper, but can sometimes be bought as a bush. Most varieties suitable for Melbourne’s cool climate are evergreen vines.
Flowers are generally star-shaped and white with pink centres, but you can get plain white or yellow varieties. The flowers offer a wonderful (but strong) scent often used in perfumes and soap products.
Jasmines need a warm and sheltered location, in an area that receives at least partial sunlight. Plant in well-draining, moderately fertile soil.
If you have the climbing variety you will require some sort of support structure (trellis, arch, wall) on which it can grow.
